Different contact systems and different contact materials also allow their use in electronic circuits as well as in aggressive environmental conditions. The basic building block of all switches is the stage , which is equipped with 1 or 2 contacts. A contact can be a normally open or normally closed contact. During switching, they may also overlap, advance, or lag. The contacts are operated via the detent mechanism; latching and touch functions are possible. All switches up to and including CA63 are supplied with the terminals open and finger proof according to EN 50274 and BGV A3.
